Cultivation
Carrot plants should be placed in full sun approximately 2 inches apart. It enjoys a pH between 5.5 and 7.0. Amend the soil so that it has plenty of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K).
Starting from Seed
Starting indoors and then transplanting is not recommended. Direct sow in the garden 0.250 inches deep 3 weeks before the last frost.
To print a schedule of when to start seeds indoors, when to move outside, and when to direct sow, go to Browse and select the plants you are interested in. Then go to the Planting Schedule.
Seed Saving
Isolate plants by 300 feet for home use. For total purity isolate by 1320 feet. Carrots will cross with other carrots or Queen Anne's Lace.
