Swiss chard plants should be placed in full sun approximately 10 inches apart. It enjoys a pH between 6.0 and 7.0.
Starting from Seed
To start from seed, plant seeds 0.500 inches deep 2 weeks before the last frost. Transplant to larger containers if necessary. Harden off and move to the garden 1 days after the last frost.
To print a schedule of when to start seeds indoors, when to move outside, and when to direct sow, go to Browse and select the plants you are interested in. Then go to the Planting Schedule.
Seed Saving
Isolate plants by 1320 feet for home use. For total purity isolate by 1 miles. Swiss chard is biennial and will cross with other chard or beets.
