Cultivation
Pepper plants should be placed in full sun approximately 18 inches apart. It enjoys a pH between 5.5 and 7.0. Amend the soil so that it has plenty of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K).
Starting from Seed
To start from seed, plant seeds 0.250 inches deep 8 weeks before the last frost. Transplant to larger containers if necessary. Harden off and move to the garden 2 weeks after the last frost.
To print a schedule of when to start seeds indoors, when to move outside, and when to direct sow, go to Browse and select the plants you are interested in. Then go to the Planting Schedule.
Seed Saving
Isolate plants by 150 feet for home use. For total purity isolate by 300 feet. Sweet and hot peppers should always be isolated from one another at the distance recommended for total purity.
