I is fine
Thanks so much, all you guys who left such sweet comments about Louie!
Believe it or not, Louie is still with us. He gets a half an aspirin every morning and every night, tucked into half a hot dog. He LOVES hot dogs!
We also doctor his kibble with all sorts of stuff like soup, half a can of canned food, parmesan, spaghetti sauce, taco meat, bacon grease... he's actually gaining weight.
He has a new tumor on his back (surprising, this usually spreads to the lymph system and lungs) and the one in his mouth is spreading but not at the alarming rate it was that first week.
He sleeps a lot but seems happy and playful when he's awake. We're just enjoying him and keeping an eye on him.
The only reason I've not been blogging is I got burned out on it. I'm kind of thinking I'll start up again; I have plenty of pics to share. I'm fine, happy, and busy... and, to be honest... I discovered Facebook. I know. I'm a teeny-bopper. It's kind of embarrassing, but it's a great way to keep up with family and far flung friends (actually, I'm the far-flung one, everyone else is still where they were before I moved to WV).

Oh noes, not facebook! Say it isn't so! I hear you on the blog-burnout factor, though. It waxes and wanes, that feeling.
Glad to hear Louie is getting along, though. Nothing fixes up an omnivorous mammal quite like bacon grease. It is truly a magical elixir.
Thanks for the Louie update.
NOT facebook.....my wife has discovered it just this past week and is enjoying finding all our far flung friends.
Glad your dog is doing okay,he looks like a great member of the family.
I enjoy periodically reading oyur adventures, hope to be joining the ranks of would-be homesteaders in the next few months.

hugs, u have 2 lovely dogs..
and i do understand ur feeling..
my dog had demodex canis, was nearly put to sleepy by the vet.. but my dad do not allow the doctor to do so...
one day he found a pet shop, and the shop owner introduce him to another vet which actually safe my dog's life..
now my dog is healthy and over active.. :D
Hello,
I am sorry about your sweet dog...
with all due respect, may I suggest that you google "processed foods may cause cancer?" Perhaps a few less hot dogs to the other dog so he will be around a lot longer.

You have a beautiful vegetable garden
and you seem to eat well, why not do the same for your dogs and cats?
I don't mean to be insensitive to what you are going through, but it is something to think about.
I know that at this point Louie can have whatever he wants, but for future reference for your other pets, this might be something to think about.
That means ...nix the bacon grease, processed cream of chicken soup and basically anything processed. I started my cat on a strict organic diet and her ailments have improved 100%. I wish you all the best...
FYI...Bacon grease is full of nitrates and hydrogenated oil which are proven to be cancer causing. Please check the link I sent in the last post.
The previous poster had a vet who saved his dog's life...I can bet that the dog's diet was changed.
